USC Sumter Adds HearthStone to eSports Program (Fall 2017)

Starting this Fall (2017), USC Sumter is adding HearthStone: Heroes of WarCraft to its eSports Program.  The eSports program currently competes in League of Legends and Overwatch.  HearthStone is "deceptively simple and an insanely fun digital card game".  It is a fast-paced strategy card game.  In 2015, HearthStone had over 30 million players.  In 2016, HearthStone was the 4th most watched eSport on Twitch.  It averaged 35 million hours of view time.  HearthStone is also one of the most popular eSports in college.  USC Sumter will compete in TESPA tournaments where currently (in 2017) over 740 colleges participate (click TESPA).  The USC Sumter eSports Director, Kris Weissmann is excited about adding HearthStone.  "We are pumped for HearthStone!  We have already started to recruit players and we have added a quality coach to our staff.  We will start training this summer."
